Agriculture

Our Agriculture Division leads the way in sustainable farming and innovative plant production to support Oman’s food security goals. From cutting-edge techniques to traditional expertise, we focus on delivering high-quality crops while preserving natural resources.

Agriculture Projects

As the first of its kind in Oman, our Agroforestry Division is leading the way with innovative initiatives designed to enhance environmental sustainability, boost biodiversity, green the desert, and plant trees for carbon sequestration. These efforts are directly aligned with Oman’s Net Zero targets, the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and Oman Vision 2040, while also playing a critical role in bolstering national food security.

  • MMMMMMMMOmani Lime Cultivation: As the first initiative of its kind in support of carbon sequestration goals, this landmark project has successfully cultivated 30,000 Omani lime trees in Dhofar Governorate. The project is designed with two primary objectives: to revive the cultivation of the increasingly rare Omani lime tree, highly prized by local communities for its unique citrus fruit, and to generate carbon credits for Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), which is fully funding the initiative. This effort not only preserves a cherished local species but also aligns with broader environmental sustainability goals.
  • 10 Million Local Tree Planting Drive: We are bringing our extensive expertise to the forefront in the execution of this ambitious project on behalf of the Environment Authority. The initiative involves planting local varieties of desert trees across Oman, with the goals of enhancing the nation’s green cover, contributing to climate change mitigation, and fostering biodiversity. A key objective of the project is the generation of carbon credits, which will be allocated to PDO in recognition of their funding support. Leveraging our specialized knowledge in waterwell drilling and irrigation systems, we are committed to managing the project over the long term, ensuring its success and sustainability.
  • Jojoba Tree Cultivation: As a globally recognized source of raw material for biofuel production, the jojoba tree is central to our desert agriculture initiatives. With plans to cultivate around 150,000 jojoba trees, we will utilize our advanced expertise in desert irrigation to ensure the success of this project. Beyond producing valuable raw material for biofuel production, the initiative will also contribute to carbon credit generation.
